Our process

1. Collision occurs

2. Your estimate and getting started

  • We will prepare an initial estimate
  • Insurance company reviews the estimate. Sometimes, they might have their own adjuster come take a look at the vehicle. Once the insurance company determines if the vehicle is repairable, and approves the estimate, we move on to order parts.

3. Order Parts

  • We order the required part for your vehicle. Although most of the parts might arrive quickly, the repair process might have to wait until the inner structure parts arrive.

4. Vehicle disassembly

  • Vehicle is taken apart to identify all damage. This is usually where hidden damages are found, and the inner structure damage is assessed and a supplement is written, often time needing approval from the insurance company.
  • Customer and insurance company approve any estimate updates.
  • Repairs begin.
  • Completion date is estimated.

5. Structural and body repair

  • Repairs per vehicle manufacturer's repair guidelines
  • Replace exterior panels and repair salvageable panels. This is when the vehicle starts to come back to life.
  • Perform first quality inspection.

6. Paint repair

  • Paint preparation is very critical in the repair process of your vehicle.
  • Body smoothing and sanding. All panels are prepped for paint, then primed and sealed to assure good adhesion when the final color and clear coats are applied.
  • Perform second quality inspection.

6. Vehicle reassembly / alignment

  • Vehicle reassembled
  • Final moldings and detail pieces are installed.
  • All the systems are checked during this process.
  • Alignments are done after the reassembly if stated to be done from the insurance company.

7. Quality Assurance / Detaukubg

  • We prep your car for pick-up
  • Perform advanced driver-assistance system calibrations as needed
  • We perform a final quality assurance check

8. On-time delivery

  • Delivery is made
  • The bill is explained and the final paper work is completed.
  • The customer drives away in the vehicle that has been restored to its pre-accident condition.

9. Limited lifetime warranty

  • Repairs backed by our written limited lifetime warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes, in fact we work with all insurance companies. You have the right to select the repair facility of your choice. Don’t let insurance companies dictate where to have your car repaired. Your car, your choice.

How long will the repairs take?

This is, of course, dependent on the complexity of the repairs, the situation, theavailability of parts and materials, and much more. Each job is unique. We will providean estimated time of completion at the same time we provide the estimate, althoughthis does not include the time it may take for any additional damage found duringdisassembly. In the end, we would rather make sure that the job is done right than donefast.

Who do I pay my deductible to?

As part of your covered claim, you'll need to pay your deductible — the amount you're responsible for paying the shop toward repair costs. Each insurance company is different. Your insurance provider may pay their portion directly to the shop, or they may send payment directly to you. You would then provide payment to the shop upon completion of repairs.

Are my repairs warrantied?

Yes –Pontchartrain Collision provides a limited lifetime warranty for the workmanship done on your vehicle the duration you own your car. Please see our limited lifetime repair guarantee.

Can I get a ride home when I drop my car off?

We are happy to make arrangements for you to get you home within a 10-mile radius.

We know there are plenty more questions you may have to ask – these are just the most common ones.

Please contact our team regarding any questions you may have. Our team will be happy to help you out in any way we can.
